Amazing Art

Bonjour,

So nice to blog again I have been wanting to blog for awhile. My latest creation was an art cake. My Dad's side of the family came over to eat it. It was fun telling them how I made it, now I can tell you!

I made my cake first by baking a yellow box cake because they are very firm. I baked it at 350 degrees for around 20-25 min. then put it in the freezer over night. When the cake was ready I put it on a flat pan and carved the edges to make a kidney shape. I used a round cookie cutter to make a whole.

Next I mixed chocolate frosting and vanilla frosting together to get a light brown frosting. I would not recommend using the whole tub of frosting of vanilla because you will need it later. Then you would frost the cake with this new mixed color.  You may need to use a frosting tool and add a little vanilla or a little chocolate after to make it more realistic.

When you are done frosting the cake, you take five tiny bowls and add some vanilla  frosting to each one. You will dye it five different colors:  red, green, orange, yellow and blue. Most colors come in a set of dyes but orange doesn't so you will have to mix red and yellow together to make orange. I put a small dollop of the frosting on the cake and added some sprinkles of the same color on top.  Well that's how I made my art cake!!! It comes out looking like an artist's palette with paints on it.  It came out really cool, see the pictures below!
